Mrs. Gray
I’ve attached a copy of the front page of the April 1994 issue of Paw Prints. I saved it all these years because I am the happy “mother” of Dusty, the Featured Feline. She is now called Mrs. Gray.
Your instincts were right. Mrs. Gray just needed a quiet home. When she first came to live here, she hid behind the armoire in the living room for about a day. Then she came out, and we’ve been best buddies ever since. Mrs. G. is a darling, dear little cat, full of a precious, funny little personality and very affectionate – on her terms.
She has to feel safe and secure; she still has trust issues from the days when she struggled to survive before she came to your shelter. So she won’t allow me to pick her up or hold her. On the other hand she comes running to greet me every time I come home and throws herself down next to me on the couch or bed. In the last few years she has even started to curl up on my lap for an occasional nap. She follows me around the house. She still detests other cats, but she is much more tolerant of people. I can have a house full of visiting kids and she will pay a few cautious visits in between snacks and cozy naps in her basket.
Her name became Mrs. Gray early on. She has a presence and dignity that seems to require a certain formality. She is the apple of my eye! She is a great little traveler. She patiently rode in the car for 10 hours one day.

I love Mrs. Gray beyond words. I thank you for saving her because she has truly enriched my life. She is the perfect roommate! She has a beautiful, plush, velvety coat and she LOVES to be brushed and fussed over. She also loves her catnip plant, or to play with a stick, string or toy mouse.
So, a much belated but heartfelt THANKS to all of you at the Framingham Animal Humane Society for taking in and looking after the precious cats and connecting animals and people. Warm regards, Anne
